Numero Ocho!!!

8. Josh is disillusioned by the reaction of the public once his identity is known. No one seems to be interested in his message–people are interested only in him as a celebrity. The producer of 20/20 tells him, "They want to know about you. You're the story, just you. People want gossip; people want sizzle." What does this tell you about how the media views the public? What happens when the sizzle fizzles?

I think that they (the media) view us as sheep that enjoy a good show as long as it doesn't hurt us. They'll stoke the fire that is our emotions as long as possible to keep that sizzle going. Once "the sizzle fizzles", the sheep will disperse and there will be no more money to be made off of that particular sizzle. Since the revelation of Larry's identity causes that sizzle, they'll swarm to the fire and keep it going until there is nothing left of it but Josh's stripped down identity.

Numero Cinco!!!

5. Paint a picture of Josh's character. Why is it that he has only one friend? Discuss his relationship with Beth. Do you think he would have created the Larry Web site if he had told Beth how he felt about her?

I think that maybe the self confidence is no good. A lack of self confidence could have also led to using the anonymous internet account as a platform instead of a more personal platform. As far as the relationship with Beth goes, I think things could have gone one of two ways if Josh told her how he feels about her.

Possibility 1: she is receptive to the idea of Josh liking her. If this happens I think that Josh either does not create "Larry" or at least delays the creation of "Larry" because of the boost in self confidence.

Possibility 2: Beth is not receptive towards Josh's feelings / blows off Josh. This accelerates the creation and development of "Larry". "Larry" posts more negatively upon certain issues in his life and may or may not gain the foll0wing he has now.

75 items

In response to which items I'd keep in an effort to be nonmaterialistic, I'd have to go with my computer, my pair of tattered jeans with the built-in AC in the right knee, one of my Summit softball shirts, my winter coat, a pair of socks and undies, my flip flops, and my Converse All Stars.

That is all and good day.

First Post

Just a test, that's all.
